Closing shot

Today was a tough day. Called my father-in-law and my brother-in-law over to help me clear out the studio. McLean Photography is no more. Oh I'll still do the occasional portrait session for someone, I just won't have a studio anymore. It was sad to see the space so empty, even though there's still some stuff left to be moved. But it was a business decision. The studio was a constant drain on the business's finances and it never really paid for itself. I loved being in that space. It always just felt right when I walked in there, but it was a struggle in the best of times. With the current economy and everyone's brother picking up a camera and becoming a "photographer" it became that much harder. With a wife and child to look after, I'm not sure I'd even had the time to take care of more business than I was getting.

I've learned a few things, and the good thing is, I'll feel more free to do the work I want to do on my terms. That's how I got noticed in the first place, not by doing cutesy portraits of 9-month-olds. I still want to shoot, and if anyone wants to do a shoot with me, get in touch. We'll make some cool images and have some fun.

Testing new layout

I 'm trying out Blogger's new design and template features. I like it so far.

Here's a picture from my trip to the Kennedy Space Center to watch the launch of STS-130, the last night launch of the space shuttle.

I do wish they'd allow you to display the pictures larger. This seems to be the largest size, and obvs. there's still a lot of white space that could be filled with a larger picture. Just my two cents.

UPDATE: Apparently I'm not the only person who'd like to have bigger picture on blogger. There's lots of ways to go about doing it, but I think I'll just choose the direct way and change the html in the post as I make one. Voila - bigger pictures on my blogger blog. Easy.
